Dr. Alexander Erwin was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, but raised to love the Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Cubs in Batavia, Illinois — a suburb of Chicago. After high school, Dr. Erwin received an athletic scholarship to play soccer at West Virginia University, where he was part of the WVU’s Big East Championship winning team in 2006 and NCAA Sweet 16 qualifying team in 2007. After completing a degree in Biology (B.S.) Cum Laude in 2010, Dr. Erwin was accepted to the WVU Doctorate of Dental Surgery program and finished his degree in 2014.
Dr. Erwin’s nearly decade of practicing dentistry brought him diverse experiences that lend to the comprehensive and compassionate approach to care he brings to Alexander Erwin, DDS. After working in a federal prison, a pediatric office, and another private practice, Dr. Erwin is excited to lead the team in carrying on the legacy of this office and Dr. Robert Rosenfeld.
Outside of the practice, Dr. Erwin keeps active by continuing to play soccer in the local rec league, bike riding, and skiing. He loves hiking and golfing with his wife, as well as spending time with their 2 large Great Pyrenees dogs and 3 cats. Dr. Erwin also often plays his guitar, enjoys woodworking projects, and has quite the green thumb in their garden!
Dr. Alexandra Reynolds, MD, (Dr. Erwin's wife) graduated from the West Virginia School of Medicine in 2015 and completed her residency in anesthesia in 2019. Since moving to San Diego, Dr. Reynolds has been working at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. She is joining our team at Alexander Erwin, DDS to provide intravenous sedation services during dental treatment. This way, you can rest assured that while receiving great dental care, you'll be closely monitored by an anesthesiologist as your safety is our #1 priority.
In addition to sedation, Dr. Reynolds will start providing cosmetic services, including botox and fillers, on select days throughout each month. Dr. Reynolds will do free consultations for those interested!

Then, you can relax during your appointments with therapeutic warm towels, Tempurpedic pillows, and TVs that feature your favorite programming. You might just feel like you’re at a spa! After a thorough exam and cleaning, we will work together to develop your custom treatment plan, always keeping you informed.
From the moment you sit down in the chair, Dr. Erwin places the utmost emphasis on patient comfort. We also offer sedation dentistry options for patients with dental anxiety.
